Janani-Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK)
Launched: 2011
Objectives:
- To provide completely free and cashless services to pregnant women including normal deliveries and caesarean operations and sick new born (up to 30 days after birth) in Government health institutions in both rural and urban areas.
Rajmata Jijau Mother-Child Health & Nutrition Mission
Launched: 2005
Objectives:
- The aim of the Mission is to reduce child malnutrition in Maharashtra by focusing on the first 1000 days from conception, i.e. the period of -9 to 24 months.
- It aims at improving convergence and coordination between Public Health Department, Govt. of Maharastra and ICDS Commissionerate.
National Rural Health Mission
Launched: 2005
Objectives:
- Reduction in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR)
- Universal access to integrated comprehensive public health services
- Child health, water, sanitation and hygiene
Mid-Day Meal Programme
Launched: 1995
Objectives:
- Improving the nutritional status of children in classes I VIII in Government Local Body and Government aided schools
- Providing nutritional support to children of primary stage in drought-affected areas.
National Nutrition Policy (NNP)
Launched: 1993
Objectives:
- To prevent and control malnutrition
- To accelerate national development through raising the standard of living .
- To improve the nutritional status of the people, especially disadvantaged groups, including mothers, adolescent girls and children
National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP)
Launched: 1992
Objectives:
- To prevent, control and eliminate these disorders
- To provide assistance to the States for Setting up IDD Cell
- IDD monitoring laboratories for ensuring quality control of iodated salt
Kishori Shakti Yojana
Launched: 1991
Objectives:
- To improve the nutritional, health and development status of adolescent girls, promote awareness of health, hygiene, nutrition and family care,
- Link them to opportunities for learning life skills, going back to school, help them gain a better understanding of their social environment and take initiatives to become productive members of the society
Wheat Based Supplementary Nutrition Programmes
Launched: 1986
Objectives:
- The programme aims to enlarge the scope of existing nutrition programme by covering additional beneficiaries i.e. pre-school children and nursing and expectant mothers through wheat-based supplementary nutrition.
Puratchi Thalaivar MGR Noon Meal Prgramme
Launched: 1982
Objectives:
- To provide adequate nutrition to economically disadvantaged children.
- To combat malnutrition among the children and to increase their literacy rate.
- To act as a potent incentive for increasing the enrollment and reducing dropouts from schools.
The Tamil Nadu Integrated Nutrition Project
Launched: 1980
Objectives:
- To increase the proportion of children classified as "nutritionally normal" by 50% in new and 35% in TINP-II areas.
- To reduce the infant mortality to 55% per 1000 live births.
- To 50% reduction in incidence of low birth weight.
