This study focused on changes in dietary habits during covid-19 lockdown and aimed to assess the weight changes over a 3-month national lockdown in a cohort of NAFLD-HIV patients on a dietary intervention trial. This study exhibited that NAFLD patients with HIV, underwent an increase in their body weight during a period of forced confinement. This increase in body weight among NAFLD patients leads to further progression of the disease, whereas increase in body weight among HIV patients has been linked to the onset of cardio-vascular disease. That is why, this study was conducted on a cohort of NAFLD-HIV patients. And, this study was able to demonstrate that the weight gain under such circumstances can be alleviated by telemedicine, namely dietary intervention. Patients on the intervention group had lesser alterations in dietary habits and also, they were able to remain physically active throughout the lockdown. Due to which, the patients underwent less weight gain. The study was able to prove the beneficial effects of regular dietary follow up by telemedicine in promoting healthy lifestyle and weight control during lockdown. That’s why, it puts emphasis on maintenance of health services, namely- nutritional appointments in future lockdowns.
